Picture Day: Fall photos will be taken on Sept. 25 all day as well as a half day on Sept. 26 for the M/W Kinder's, 3 Pengelly, 3/4 Christoffersen/Blair and any students who missed the previous day. We are trying a new company this year. Take a peak for more information. Smart Photography

Toonies for Terry/Terry Fox Run: The Terry Fox Run is quickly approaching. This year, we will be running the Terry Fox Run Sept. 26 on a predetermined route and the students will run in classroom groups. We are currently collecting Toonies for Terry. You can send a toonie (or more) to school with your child. Our goal is to collect $450.00 in celebration of this year's 45th Annivesary. Any donation is greatly appreciated!

Orange Shirt Day: Orange Shirt Day will be held on Sept. 29. All staff and students are encouraged to wear orange shirts to show our support for the residential school survivors and their families. The BHES Clothing Store has specific orange shirt logos available for purchase. Please take a look!

KM Club: KM (Running) Club has started. KM Club is open to all students who would like to join. They will have time to run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at lunch recess. There will be an upcoming field trip on Oct. 9 for a group of dedicated runners. More information to come next week.

Volleyball Camp (Gr. 5 & 6): Volleyball Camp will start in the beginning of October. Mr. Pickering will hold a meeting for all interested students on Sept. 29 at lunch recess. We will send a volleyball consent form home for students who are interested in participating in the volleyball camp. Please take a moment to read the information, and if you wish for your child to participate, please fill out the form and send it back to the office.

BHES Athletic Uniforms: If you would like to purchase a BHES Athletic t-shirt for your child, a link is available on the online payment site. The t-shirts are $25.00 each.
- Snack Shack Opening Soon: We are hoping to open up Snack Shack Wednesday Sept. 24. Snacks vary in price - either $1.00 or $2.00/snack. Grades 1 - 3 will access the Snack Shack on Mondays and Wednesdays; Grades 4 - 6 will access the Snack Shack on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Snack Shack is closed Fridays. Please remember to send a full lunch with your child (sandwich, fruit, vegetables, and a drink), as the Snack Shack only sells supplementary snacks.

BHES Choir Fees (Grade 3 - 6 students only): There will be fees throughout the school year for any child wishing to join choir. If you have marked that your child needs a Choir t-shirt, the fee has been added to your child's account. Additionally, there will be a few field trips throughout the school year, with fees to be determined before each field trip. We will do our best to give plenty of notice to the parents of the choir students. If you need finacial assistance, please reach out to Mrs. Michaylow in the school office for assistance.

Volunteer Information: With a new school year upon us, we will be looking for parent volunteers to assist with different school activities. All forms are available on the BHES website, under the “Volunteers” tab. There are some volunteer requirements from CESD:

Criminal Record Checks & Vulnerable Sector Checks: Criminal Record Checks & Vulnerable Sector are required for all volunteers. Please download the “Criminal Record Check Fee Waiver” form available on the website or request one from the school office.
2. Oath of Confidentiality & Declaration Forms: All volunteers are required to fill out the Oath of Confidentiality form, along with the Declaration form. These forms are available on the website or at the school office.

ONLY 30 LEFT! 2025/2026 School Re-Enrollment & Consent Form (formerly known as the Demographic Update): If you have not already done so, could you please ensure that you fill out the 2025/2026 School Re-Enrollment & Consent Form that has been sent to your emails from Division Office. This form includes the Walking Field Trip Form (required NOW, if you would like your child to participate in the Terry Fox Run), FOIPP, media consent, and computer use permissions. It is imperative that the information on file for each student be as up-to-date as possible. Please note that you must provide at least one emergency contact that is not yourself.
- Online Payments Information: You can find a link to your child’s online payment account in your Parent Portal. If you have never created an online payment account for your child, use the attached document provided to walk you through this very easy process: Online Payment Set Up Instructions If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Michaylow in the school office for assistance.

Grade 5 & 6 Locks: We have started issuing locks to students in Grade 5 & 6. Locks will be optional this year for these students, but if your child does bring a device to school and would like to keep it in their locker, they will need to purchase a lock. If you would like to purchase a lock online, the link is now ready, or we will take cash or debit in the office as well.
