Classroom Placement: Parents can expect to recieve an email from their child's upcoming teacher to let them know their classroom placement for the 2025/2026 school year on Thursday, August 28th. Please check your email for that information.

Open House: The Meet the Teacher Open House will be held on Friday, August 29 from 2 – 3 p.m. Feel free to bring your child’s school supplies on this day. For parents that have ordered school supplies online, you will find your child’s school supplies in their classroom. The first day of school is Tuesday, September 2. Parents, feel free to walk your child to their designated entrance(s):

Kindergarten Staggered Entry – your teacher will have contacted you via phone/email to share the plan for staggered entry for your Kindergarten child. If you have not heard from your classroom teacher, please call the school office and we will assist you.

2025/2026 School Re-Enrollment & Consent Form (formerly known as the Demographic Update): As quickly as possible, please ensure that you fill out the 2025/2026 School Re-Enrollment & Consent Form that has been sent to your emails from Division Office. This form includes the Walking Field Trip Form (required by September 15, if you would like your child to participate in the Terry Fox Run), FOIPP, media consent, and computer use permissions. It is imperative that the information on file for each student be as up-to-date as possible. Please note that you must provide at least one emergency contact that is not yourself.

Debit Machine Available: BHES has a debit machine available in the school office to offer a convenient payment option for our families. Along with accepting debit and credit card payments, the new machine will also accept Apple Pay and Google Pay. Please note: any Hot Lunch purchases must be made online. The school office will not accept cash or debit machine purchases for hot lunches.

Online Payments Information: You can find a link to your child’s online payment account in your Parent Portal. If you have never created an online payment account for your child, use the attached document provided to walk you through this very easy process: Online Payment Set Up Instructions If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Michaylow in the school office for assistance.

Hot Lunch Information: You can order Hot Lunches for September and October at this time. All further month’s Hot Lunches will be made available shortly.

Monthly Order Deadlines: Please note, the first Hot Lunch order DEADLINE is Monday, Sept. 15th by midnight. Due to the nature of the ordering process, the deadlines need to be strictly adhered to. All future deadlines for each month will be on the 15th of each month (e.g., October Hot Lunch deadline is September 15, November Hot Lunch deadline is October 15, etc.).

Online Orders ONLY: Hot Lunches can only be ordered through your child’s online account; no cash or payment will be taken at the office at any time for a Hot Lunch order.

Refunds for Hot Lunches: Once a hot lunch deadline passes, the hot lunch order goes directly to the vendor. As a result, no refunds will be issued after the hot lunch deadlines pass. Please ensure to cancel any hot lunches that are not needed prior to the order deadline.

Library Books: If any of the lost or unreturned library books were found over the summer, we would greatly appreciate the books returned to the school. Outstanding fees for lost library books can be found on your child’s online payment account.

Criminal Record Checks: The Sylvan Lake Police Department is holding a criminal record check evening in conjunction with the Town of Sylvan Lake’s Fun Fest Information Night. This will be held on September 4, 2025 from 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm at the Sylvan Lake NexSource Centre. This event gives our parents, who would like to volunteer at the school, a chance to complete the mandatory criminal record check requirements. If you would like to get your criminal record check done, please take the following form, which will waive any fees attached to having this process completed. Criminal Record Check Volunteer Letter Once you have your criminal record check completed, there is some additional paperwork to complete at the school office. If you have any questions, please call the school office.
Community Events
- School's Community Garage Sale: The Sylvan Lake Library is hosting a community garage sale specializing in children's clothing this weekend: Friday, August 29 & Saturday, August 30 from 10 am - 5 pm. The garage sale will be outside on the library's lawn and all items are for sale by donation, with all proceeds going back to the Sylvan Lake schools.
