French Immersion programming will be provided in Sylvan Lake only at École Steffie Woima Elementary School, École Fox Run Middle School, and École H. J. Cody High School.

Why did Chinook’s Edge decide to build an elementary school?
Both elementary schools in Sylvan Lake are very crowded, and the need to build a new school to serve the rapidly growing population in Sylvan Lake has been a top priority for Chinook’s Edge for a number of years.  Our existing schools in Sylvan Lake have more students than they were designed for, and this issue is particularly pressing in the younger grades.

The construction of a new elementary school fits well with the longer term plans for Sylvan Lake.  The Board will continue to work with the Alberta Government and advocate for a modernization of École H. J. Cody (it is of highest priority in the Board’s Capital Plan Request to the Province).  The Board and Central Office staff are committed to ensuring all students in the Sylvan Lake area receive quality learning in a quality environment.

Having an Inclement Weather Day means that school buses will not run and/or school closures may be in effect if weather necessitates. The complete procedure is availabe on the Chinook's Edge School Division website. Here is a link to a one-page document which will help to explain Inclement Weather Days.
